Hello sports fans! Last month came like the brand new one, and in deed it is the month of September, the beginning of ember months. August came with a lot of sporting activities, transfer issues here and there in the EL. Nigerian leagues was not left out in action. One thing Chelsea fans won’t forget in a hurry about the month of August is the defeat by Banyan Munich. For some of us, sports writers and x-players, it was a month of felicitation as we celebrated the Super Eagle’s international, Segun Odegbami who was plus one on Tuesday, the 27^th of August which was also the second day of THE INAUGURAL CONGRESS OF THE INT. ASS. OF AFRICAN FOOTBALLER (IAAFOOT) held in Lagos.

City hope to delay title surrender

Manchester City can delay the inevitable by beating fifth-place Tottenham on Sunday in the Premier League. Manchester United, who lead City by 13 points, can clinch their 20th English title with a victory at home to Aston Villa on Monday if City lose at White Hart Lane. City have saved some of their best form for the latter stages of the season, winning six of their last seven league matches, but the team will not be as fresh as Tottenham, who have been on a 10-day break since being knocked out of the Europa League quarterfinals. Physical edge may not be the only factor as Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor, who used to play for City, predicted that his opponents will start fighting each other on the field if things don't go their way.

Egypt crowned AYC champions

Egypt won their fourth CAF U-20 Championship title on Saturday after a 5-4 penalty shoot-out victory over Ghana in the final played at Ahmed Zabana stadium in Oran on Saturday. The two sides had played a 1-1 draw in regulation time. Converting penalties for Egypt were Saleh Gomaa, Ahmed Samir, Ahmed ElSayed, Mahmoud Monem and Hossam Mohamed while Ramy Rabie missed and for Ghana were Richmond Nketiah, Jeremiah Arkorful, Lawrence Lartey, Ebenezer Ofori while Attama Joseph and Moses Odjer missed. Super Eagles welcomed home as heroes

Nigeria arrived home on Tuesday to wild celebrations as tens of thousands lined the streets to catch a glimpse of their heroes after the team ended a 19-year wait to win the African Nations Cup at the weekend. The players landed at Abuja's airport to the sound of beating drums and raucous chanting before driving the few miles to the national stadium through throngs of adoring fans packing the dusty highway. "I am overwhelmed by what I am seeing," defender Joseph Yobo told reporters when the squad paraded the trophy to thousands who filled the stadium later.
